Press Release –Partnership starts with the team’s first victory at the Twelve Hours of Sebring
AO Racing, the sports car team founded in 2022 to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and endurance racing, has chosen to adopt Halo By Orthene’s world-leading Halo P1 brake fluid, and the partnership is immediately delivering results.
At the second race in the IMSA calendar, AO Racing’s Porsche 911 GT3 Rawr took a resounding victory in the GTD PRO category at the Twelve Hours of Sebring, using Halo P1. Leading 82 of the 329 laps, it marked the team’s first ever victory at Sebring.
Halo P1 is also used in the team’s LMP2 effort alongside the Porsche 911 GT3 Rawr, bearing the fan-favourite monikers of Spike the Dragon and Rexy, respectively.
Lloyd Ker, CEO, Halo By Orthene said: “We are extremely excited to partner with AO Racing for the 2025 season. Their recent emphatic victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the GTD Pro Class showcases their exceptional talent and commitment to excellence. AO Racing brings a perfect mix of performance, innovation, and fan engagement that we at Halo truly admire. Their vibrant presence in motorsport, highlighted by their iconic liveries and unique approach, aligns perfectly with Halo By Orthene’s distinctive and innovative approach to the market and are thrilled to support their journey, we look forward to an exciting and successful season, pushing the boundaries of performance.”Since Alan Ker founded the business in the mid-1970s, Orthene has built a legacy of cutting-edge science and relentless innovation in the brake fluid market. For example:
- Formulating the first low-hygroscopicity brake fluid – the forerunner of today’s DOT 4
- Developing the world’s first brake fluid to exceed a 300°C (572°F) boiling point
- Creating a DOT 5.1 low-viscosity fluid, another world first
“With the current regulations in modern sports car racing, the areas that we can gain a competitive advantage can be quite small,” said AO Racing Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette. “Brake fluid is one of the things that is open to a team to use to improve overall performance. We are very happy to partner with Halo By Orthene, as it gives our drivers the most consistent braking performance we’ve found.”
Developed in-house by Halo By Orthene, a specialist division of Orthene, the UK-based world-leading brake fluid manufacturer formed in 1976, Halo P1 is a dedicated motorsport brake fluid and the most advanced on the market. Halo P1 offers the highest typical dry boiling point of 341°C (646F) and unmatched incompressibility in the most extreme circumstances for unrivalled consistency of pedal feel and performance.
